Job Brief...

We are searching for a skilled counsellor to help provide direction and support to our clients, which includes families and individuals dealing with eating disorders, as well as health and education professionals. The role is one of navigation and support. It does not involve longer term counselling as we are not a treatment facility.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to coordinate with support networks, government resources, and community resources.

To be successful in this role you should have great facilitation skills, and be able to work individually and as part of a team.

Responsibilities...

● Act as client & family advocate by discussing available services

● Facilitate workshops and programs

● Regular follow up as appropriate with clients and families

● Gather information about community resources

● Measure outcomes from workshops and programs

● Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships within the team and with external partners

● Follow new developments in the field by reading professional literature, attending trainings, and establishing and maintaining contact with other agencies

● Advise senior management on new trends and research that will inform future growth and program development. Support growth and program development

● Development and implementation of peer support programs

● Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients and families

Requirements...

● Bachelor or Master’s degree preferred in psychology, social work, or counselling.

● Must be a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (C.C.P.A.) and have completed the Canadian Certified Counselling (C.C.C.) program, or equivalent qualifications (financial support provided)

● Access to Professional Liability Insurance (financial support provided)

● Previous experience in a similar role would be asset

● Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Drive and the internet, email communication and other forms of media

● Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with mentally or emotionally challenged persons and their families is a must

● Demonstrated time-management, communication (oral and written) and organizational skills

● Lived experience with eating disorders would be considered an asset

Details

● Contractual with annual opportunity for renewal after initial probationary period. Minimum 21 hours per week. Higher hours, up to 35 considered with increased responsibility

● Hours: Day time and some evening work required

● Compensation: Hourly rate, ranging from $41.97 to $51.36

● Health and Dental plan at shared premium cost

● RRSP contribution will be considered for the right candidate

● Only candidates living in Newfoundland & Labrador will be considered

● In office preferred however a hybrid arrangement will be considered for the right candidate.
